This book has some vbscript scripts without any examples or explanation of either vbscript or QTP. For me it was useless to keep this book and therefore I returned it. I don't understand the author's goal in writing such book.

About the Author
Otto Carius (1922-2015) was a tank commander who fought for the German Army during World War II. He received a Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves for bravery in combat.

He has recorded over 100 audiobooks, many in the historical romance and Highlander genres, as well as fantasy novels, thrillers, classics, and young adult titles.

I'm glad I bought this book

This book is a great story. A rare personal account of what it was like to be a tank commander and see a lot of action. In probably the most legendary tank there ever was, no less. This was an exceptional man, and this is an exceptional book.

This is the original,1st English translation.Published by J.J.F.The book is first rate cover to cover.The book is the memoirs
of Otto Carius to his comrades in the 502 Heavy Tank Bat.The author is the top living[90 yrs old] tank ace in the world!
TheJ.J.F.version has been out of print for years.But you can get a Stackpole book ,for next to nothing. A good read.

Excellent book from a teacher's perspective

I have been using Dougherty's "Introduction to Econometrics" in my Econometrics class for several years. The previous versions were incomplete, to my view, as I had to disclose many mathematical details behind intuitive statements. The fourth edition fills in many of those blanks, while keeping the intuition that is so important for first-time readers. The data sets, PowerPoint presentations and study guide provided by the author greatly enhance the teaching process. However, because of the sheer volume of the book, I would not say it is an easy reading.

An econometric textbook that provides both theory and intuition

I was looking for an econometric introduction textbook for my son who is an engineering major. My son just finished his freshman year and his math background includes: AP statistics, Calculus BC, multi-variable calculus, linear algebra and ordinary differential equation. Although he had complained about statistics being hard to grasp, he is going through this book and doing most of the exercises with minimum help from me.

In contrast, I had a hard time with, An introduction to Classical Econometric Theory; by Paul A Ruud, as my first econometric reading. I think this book not only makes econometrics understandable and it also presents many practical techniques for situations that we often encounter.

Standard Econometrics Text

I do economic research and occasionally have to engage in econometric modeling. I bought this text because a professor I know uses it in his graduate statistics and econometrics classes. The text begins at the basic level of developing an economic study, determining the statistical methods to apply, and then the econometric methods to be used. It is rather unique in its range of coverage. However, it packs in too much information in too little a package, thus providing more of an overview than an in-depth coverage. To gain anything from this text, one needs to be in an econometrics class with an instructor to fill in the details. I think the introductory text by Kennedy is superior to this one.

The True Pure Land sect of Japanese Buddhism, or Shin Buddhism, grew out of the teachings of Shinran (1173–1262), a Tendai-trained monk who came to doubt the efficacy of that tradition in what he viewed as a degenerate age. Shinran held that even those unable to fulfill the requirements of the traditional Buddhist path could attain enlightenment through the experience of shinjin, “the entrusting mind”―an expression of the profound realization that the Buddha Amida, who promises birth in his Pure Land to all who trust in him, was nothing other than the true basis of all existence and the sustaining nature of human beings. Over the centuries, the subtleties of Shinran’s teachings were often lost. Elaborate rituals developed to focus one’s mind at the moment of death so one might travel to the Pure Land unimpeded, and a rich artistic tradition celebrated the moment when Amida and his retinue of bodhisattvas welcome the dying believer. What is more, many Western interpreters tended to reinforce this view of Pure Land Buddhism, seeing in it certain parallels to Christianity.

This volume introduces the thought and selected writings of Yasuda Rijin (1900–1982), a modern Shin Buddhist thinker affiliated with the Otani, or Higashi Honganji, branch of Shin Buddhism. Yasuda sought to restate the teachings of Shinran within a modern tradition that began with the work of Kiyozawa Manshi (1863–1903) and extended through the writings of Yasuda’s teachers Kaneko Daiei (1881–1976) and Soga Ryōjin (1875–1971). These men lived through the period of Japan’s rapid modernization and viewed the Shin tradition as possessing existential significance for modern men and women. For them, and Yasuda in particular, Amida did not exist in some other-worldly paradise but rather Amida and his Pure Land were to be experienced as lived realities in the present. In the writings and lectures presented here, Yasuda draws on not only classical Shin and Mahayana Buddhist sources, but also the thought of Nishida Kitarō (1870–1945), the founder of the Kyoto School of philosophy, and modern Western philosophers such as Heidegger, Nietzsche, and Buber.
