Great Cuddle Book.......

Such a romantic love story. Ms. Harper has done an excellent job writing this short story. It's so well written with a steady flow from start to finish. You can even feel the story and the emotions of the characters build.

Conner and Lia have been mates for 5 fabulous years. Conner is a Doctor, who runs his clinic for the poor and under privileged. Lia is a hard as nails, give no inch Lawyer. Both in love and slowly in disagreement.

Lia's dream has always been to be a big high powered Lawyer in a very powerful Law Office in the city. Though not possible in the little town in the woods. Conner's hearts to big for the people who need him and he can't bring himself to leave them.

The day comes when Lia has made her decision and leaves Conner for the big city and Conner won't ask her to stay. He doesn't want to crush her dreams. So Lia fly's to DC thousand of miles away.

The emotion is raw, it's real. I cried but there is more to the store. Pick up a copy and see what's going on and how it ends.

What a FURLICIOUSLY sweet & spicy tail!! It was one of those ones that make you nervous about how it will end, but WOW! it just made it that much more captivating!! I was immediately engrossed and lived this story right until the very end…without taking a break even to get a drink of water! I was constantly yelling, urging or berating both Lia & Connor in my head, and even caught myself saying it out loud a couple of times! Thank goodness I was at home alone at the time, although my dog was looking at me funny. LOL This one is slightly different than the other Black Mesa Wolves stories in that they already are a mated couple, but that didn't affect my love for it in any way. In fact, I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY loved that part of it!! It’s not often you get to read a story of any length where they have already mated or married, so for me, that alone scored this baby a gold star! Yes, this is a bit shorter that most of the books we are used to in this series, but it sure didn't lack for story content or for an emotional connection to the characters or the story itself, or anything else for that matter!! In fact, J.K. gave this story the perfect amount of depth & enrichment making it feel like you just experienced a longer story. And the fact that I DID experience it, not just read it, speaks volumes! Which is all GRRRREAT to me!! Simply WOLFTASTIC!

Savannah J. Frierson is a recent graduate of Harvard University who concentrated in African and African-American Studies and English. Frierson won the Dorothy Hicks Lee Prize for her creative thesis on African-American literature. She is originally from Blythewood, South Carolina, and now lives in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Forbidden Love

In 1953, a white man in love with a black woman was unheard of, or shall I say never mentioned in mixed company. However, Benjamin Drummond and Coralee Simmons were an exception to the rule. At seven and four-years-old, respectively, Benjamin made known his intentions to marry Coralee. To keep things from progressing any further, Benjamin's mother forbade her maid to bring her daughter, Coralee, to work with her again.

Fast-forward fifteen years, Benjamin and Coralee are united again, this time attending the same college. Segregation, now sugarcoated as desegregation, forced them to become passing strangers in the night. However, after one chance encounter, the love they shared years ago turned into an undeniable lust, neither of them could control. So they fall in love all over again. Only this time, they plan to keep their relationship a secret...Or will they?

My hat goes off to Savannah J. Frierson for a job well done. The love affair found within the pages of this novel is awe-inspiring to say the least. Benjamin's love for Coralee was so strong, he wanted the whole world to know. I would recommend couples involved in interracial relationships to read this book. It will serve as a testament that no matter what others may think or say, true love conquers all.

One of the best IR books I have read

This was a wonderful book. The characters were very believable and the relationship between Benny and Ceelee was realistic. I bought the book 2 weeks ago and I have read it 3 times.

It's been a long time since I have read a book that would stay in my library. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. The characters and plot are fully developed and believable. It's good to have an IR story with meat for a change. A truly excellent read.

Great Read, Realistic and Terrifying

Fantastic read! I spent most of 20 years in the Special Ops world, "the mission of the US Army Special Forces is to train and equip indigenous troops"; so can categorically say that Mr. Hicks has obviously done his research, not only is the book a spellbinding adventure, but it is realistic and depicts the abject terror of a firefight, the exhilaration of an ambush gone right and the overwhelming sense of horror when you are the one caught in the kill zone. I found myself in Huck's shoes, E&E'ing out of the area trying to get back to a safe house; experiencing the continuous feeling of mistrust and suspicion that comes with having to trust an asset; and reducing those that are trying to take my FREEDOM to less than human so I could look at them through the cross hairs of my reticle. Again, a Fantastic Read, I am waiting with anticipation for the next installment

More helpful than a Master's degree in getting abroad

I love this book. I picked it up when I was 18 or so and the general tone that working abroad is actually possible inspired me and made me willing to consider it. The specific advice is helpful (I think the review that sent me to the book said the advice "verges on the bizarre" - ask to sleep in empty jail cells, for instance!).

Many people in the US firmly believe that the only way to go abroad is to get the blessing of the Peace Corps (for which something like 1 out of 5 applicants are selected), a "placement organization" for English teachers that charges a couple thousand dollars, or a full-time job that pays your airfare and sends you abroad for a few weeks. This book shares ideas to show that those are not the only ways - you may not use all the ideas but if you are considering going abroad independently, you need to check out this book.

Focuses on EU citizens; unrealistic/useless for most others

Well, I'm one of those Americans who has been there, done that and still doing it...and it wasn't because of this book.

More than years ago when I first went to Europe with the intention of finding work, short-term or long-term, my brother's girlfriend gave me this book as a gift because she found it useful. Let me say right off that I had no clue about traveling abroad or what was possible, even in a pre-9/11 world. But it seemed to me that the book concentrated heavily on Brits and Europeans and gave mostly common sense advice I could glean from my head (or a friend or successful expat, if I was clueless) and come up with the same or better info if I searched the Internet; plus, the author is an EU citizen, so what first hand experience does she really have in regards to non-EU citizens? The updated version hasn't changed much, and I'm puzzled by the fact it's in its 13th edition, when most people can find better and more current information online without spending a dime.

I'd also like to add that my brother's girlfriend (now ex) who loved this book, never found work abroad in her 5 years and told me I would never make it either. I told her I wasn't her, left the book behind and never saw it again. I first found a series of short-term jobs that I can only describe as experiences I can laugh about now. Then I built a life from literally nothing that has led to living and working in Europe for more than 10 years (and counting).

It is true that Americans have a more difficult time finding work in Europe simply because of EU citizenship requirements AND the world has changed significantly in that there are an abundance of Eastern European workers willing to work for cheaper than Americans/Canadians/Australians would and they're legal EU citizens. Still, showing up at the right time (and there ARE right times) and looking a certain way will more likely get you a summer job than sending a CV/resume, making calls or wasting time on placing ads or trolling forums. I don't know any employer who has hired anyone on paper or over the phone, even if you're already here in the country.

My best friend was placed in Poland, well-paid and provided housing for 2 years teaching English without any experience, certification or previous interview. He had a great time. The next year, he took a stint in Turkey during his vacation under the same circumstances. There are also plenty of opportunities, different and sometimes better, in very beautiful places outside of Europe. Another friend landed in South America with no intentions of staying and worked there happily for 3 years, learned to speak Spanish, gained experience that gave him an advantage in his flourishing career now located in Washington DC.

Aside from Europe, there are very strict requirements in place in Asia and Africa as well. Even those seeking to skirt permit and work authorization for those continents via dual citizenship may find the requirements quite difficult. In short, you cannot simply work your way around the world even illegally, never mind legally, because of upped security measures and economic recession.

Buying and reading this book, however helpful it is in small ways, is not enough. Sometimes, an adventurous attitude, thirst for experience and willingness isn't enough...sometimes it's just lady luck smiling on you. In some countries, it's strictly about connections.

I'm sorry I can't be more positive because I know it's tough to write a book and there are people out there searching for some assistance. But I think it's equally important to be honest.

i love this book

I bought this book in 1993. It caught my eye, I had always wanted to go to Europe. Empowered by this book, I bought a one way ticket to Spain with no job prospects, nothing. Kinda crazy. I spent a year in Europe on my own, working as an au pair and teaching English. It really was a great experience, and this book was invaluable. I have not seen this edition, but yes, to me it was the bible!! So inspirational and informative.

I've read over a dozen sexual addiction books and about twice more on the topic of addiction. This book is hands-down THE BIBLE for anyone who is or was addicted to lusting and being lusted after (pornography, strip clubs, prostitutes, escort services, chat rooms, adult magazines, cruising, objectifying, etc.). George Collins has felt the dark and "Noir" side of sexual addiction and is here on the other side (recovery) to share his techniques on how it shall work for you. This is THE BOOK that is the template for your recovery back to who you are supposed to be.

I've spent half of my life avoiding and denying my internal pains with sexual compulsions. This book is NOT filled with scientific explanations and complicated ideas; it is easy to read, inserted with humor, and paced with a fluid flow. I've been married for two years, father of three children, a Marine of ten years, a veteran of Afghanistan, a graduate of a university, brought up in a broken home with two addicted biological parents, and grazed with other adults of behavioral and mental issues, a family history of alcoholism/addiction/objectification.... this book changed my life.

For decades, I thought that my life and mind were unchangeable. I thought I was doomed, isolated with no hope for the rest of my life. Get to know this book and George's state of mind; and you break the chains that bind you.

Wanna heal? - READ THIS BOOK

This book changed my life. The author is a former sex addict -- this isn't a sing-songy kum-by-ya, let's hug a tree book. It's a real, in your face, no-b*llsh!t, mash-up of: (1) his journey from a raging sex addict to a nationally recognized expert, healer, and therapist; (2) simple PRACTICAL tools HE used that will profoundly accelerate YOUR recovery (and change your life); and (3) The perfect blend of Science and Spirituality -- to explain exactly what is exploding in your head and body (knowledge is information).

It changed me and it can do the same for you.

GOOD FOR SPOUSES TOO - My spouse learned a lot about me (the good, bad, ugly, and beautiful) in reading this book. It saved our marriage. George, me, my wife, and two kids thank you. YOU are a burrito: a cool guy, teacher, scientist, sage, healer, and blessed man all wrapped up in ONE.

If You're Willing...

I'm 25, and I've struggled with an addiction to pornography for half of my life. I have read this book, and as of writing, I haven't looked at a single pornographic image in over six weeks. I haven't gone to professional counseling, I haven't joined a support group-- I've only read the book. For some of you, this may be the only testimony you need to hear before you make your decision. For the rest, I'll say a bit more.

The author, George Collins, gets right to it. He doesn't waste time with theory or dreamy success stories. He'll begin working in you right away. Collins employs techniques he has seen work in the lives of his clients-- but as a former sex addict who has experienced full recovery, he first used them on himself. He has a keen knowledge of what works and what doesn't. Each chapter ends with a practical exercise.

These exercises are easy to do, and they are very effective. They don't require another person. You simply read about it, put the book down, and do it. You can practice them each day and any time you feel triggered.

While the exercises are not complex, breaking free from addiction, sexual or otherwise, is difficult. This book requires your full participation to be effective. If you're willing, Collins is there to walk you through it.

And he does so with a direct approach. He'll check your ego at the door. He's frank and honest. And that's exactly what you need. He's there to do his job, which is to tell you what your problem is. And once you know what's wrong, the healing begins.

Finally, I would like to encourage the Christian men considering this book. Although this resource will not point you to the Lord, it can be used to ensure Christ remains the very foundation of your recovery. Most exercises offered in this book can be tailored-- but instead of implementing Jesus, it is the exercises which are implemented-- Christ remains your true Strength at all times. These techniques then become a means to usher Him to the forefront of your mind and receive His aid. Let the Spirit lead you in how to best do this with each exercise, but I will give you an example from my experience. In Chapter 2, when you learn the premiere technique of dialoguing, use scripture to reprimand your addict personality. In Chapter 11, you can disempower your triggers with the "Red Light" technique, which enables you to briefly remove yourself from the situation-- but instead of talking to yourself, as suggested in the book, talk candidly with the Lord.

This is a tremendous resource. Although recovery may seem impossible, this book brings it within your grasp.

I read this bad boy cover to cover in the last 3 weeks of school, equally splitting the amt of pages into pages/day to finish by the day before the exam (May 10). This bad boy is PACKED with all info I needed to snag myself a 4 on the AP exam. Thanks, Princeton review!
