Wish I'd Read This Before Starting Law School - Seeing the Forest through the Trees

This book really clarifies what is important to focus on (for both law school & the bar exam), so you don't get lost in the forest of the ton of information presented to you with regard to either law school or the bar. I recommend this as a great law school prep book as well so that when you are taking your law school classes, you can more clearly see what the important topics, rules & elements are and how to write exam answers for each course/topic. The book is a little dated (even the 2013 revised version is dated & still refers to written exams instead of computerized exam-taking, etc.), so some rules and elements may have changed a bit here & there, but most of the rules & elements are still relevant. Regardless, no other book I have come across except for Tim Tyler's "Nailing the Bar" does as good of a job of weeding out what is important from the mass of information (which is either overly generalized or overly detailed) that most other law school prep and bar exam prep books & classes inundate you with. This book focuses in on what you need to know to do well on exams (law school or bar).

Good Place to Start - Not Best Quality

This book is great for those law students who want to explore the idea of writing a bar essay. Jeff Adachi breaks down the process step by step for each tested subject. What I found most valuable was the 'roadmap' of issues likely to come up for each subject, as well as a general plan for tackling and organizing these essays.

What was missing was quality and attention to detail. This book is best for those just starting the bar prep process, ideally during the last year of law school. If you start reading this and practicing during the summer of bar prep, likely not what you need. The answers are not great, but they get the job done. The 'self-grading' is terrible, and the points never add up.

Get this book to dissect the essay writing process as a whole, and then subject by subject. Get it for the practice essays and sample answers. But don't rely on it too much after the initial steps. I only used a fraction of the book, and ultimately wasn't worth the price in my opinion. The quality of the sample answers and self-grading process is not worth it.

Loving it!!

I'm not sure if the book is too short, or if I'm reading it too quick, because I read this in one sitting. But I did that with the two books before this one as well, so I'm not saying that as a bad thing. I'm loving the continuation of this fantastic series. Maybe especially in part two of the book,where I was crying by the end of it. Masterfully done! For anyone who loved the roller coaster ride that book one and two gave us, this is one step higher, if you ask me.

This book,as well as the previous ones remind me of all the angst of life and love. Being gay in a small town was not easy. Sam has had 2 hot guys after him, made his mistake,suffered and..........well, you will have to read the books too see what happens!!
They are well worth the time!!

Sam's Back!!!

This is the book we have all been waiting for. You know, the fans of Sam Dorsey? The young man torn between two men, Mitch and Jake? The same young man we saw celebrating his sixteenth birthday and dirty dancing? Well, he's back and we fans are getting a glimpse of a whole lot of changes. Best news is, there are two stories happening back to back so we get two for a price of one.

In The First Days of College, Sam gets back in the closet. But first, we see Sam finally getting his courage up and getting to college in the same school he and Mitch planned they would both go to. Thing is, when Mitch went up there ahead, being older, Sam's dream boy, Jake, came into the picture and well, Mitch was hurt. A whole lot and Sam is guilty. A whole lot. He hates it of course, college and his closet, but he admits he was in the wrong and so does his darnedest to make it up to Mitch.

Then Christmas With Mitch opens and, although I should say no spoilers, we do get the idea that Sam and Mitch had made up. The only problem is that Jake may be back and Mitch's parents insist he go out with a girl. This places Sam in a dilemma and he is angry, sad, miserable, angry and then there is Jake. Oh what a sorry tale it is indeed for Sam.

Fortunately, there is a happy ending, that is the only spoiler I am willing to tell, and we smile happy. Overall, this may not be the perfect follow up to the story of Sam and his misadventures with two handsome young men, but it is the perfect story because it is about Sam and his misadventures. He is growing up, ladies and gents, so life can be cruel and people can be as well. Sam makes it through, another spoiler, but we won't really know everything until he grows up, sometime in Fall according to Perie so we have to wait and see.

This book has some vbscript scripts without any examples or explanation of either vbscript or QTP. For me it was useless to keep this book and therefore I returned it. I don't understand the author's goal in writing such book.

This book give very high-level overview. I expected a little more in depth use of vbs in qtp with some real life experience and examples.

About the Author

I'm glad I bought this book

This book is a great story. A rare personal account of what it was like to be a tank commander and see a lot of action. In probably the most legendary tank there ever was, no less. This was an exceptional man, and this is an exceptional book.

TheJ.J.F.version has been out of print for years.But you can get a Stackpole book ,for next to nothing. A good read.

Excellent book from a teacher's perspective

I have been using Dougherty's "Introduction to Econometrics" in my Econometrics class for several years. The previous versions were incomplete, to my view, as I had to disclose many mathematical details behind intuitive statements. The fourth edition fills in many of those blanks, while keeping the intuition that is so important for first-time readers. The data sets, PowerPoint presentations and study guide provided by the author greatly enhance the teaching process. However, because of the sheer volume of the book, I would not say it is an easy reading.

An econometric textbook that provides both theory and intuition

I was looking for an econometric introduction textbook for my son who is an engineering major. My son just finished his freshman year and his math background includes: AP statistics, Calculus BC, multi-variable calculus, linear algebra and ordinary differential equation. Although he had complained about statistics being hard to grasp, he is going through this book and doing most of the exercises with minimum help from me.

In contrast, I had a hard time with, An introduction to Classical Econometric Theory; by Paul A Ruud, as my first econometric reading. I think this book not only makes econometrics understandable and it also presents many practical techniques for situations that we often encounter.

Standard Econometrics Text

I do economic research and occasionally have to engage in econometric modeling. I bought this text because a professor I know uses it in his graduate statistics and econometrics classes. The text begins at the basic level of developing an economic study, determining the statistical methods to apply, and then the econometric methods to be used. It is rather unique in its range of coverage. However, it packs in too much information in too little a package, thus providing more of an overview than an in-depth coverage. To gain anything from this text, one needs to be in an econometrics class with an instructor to fill in the details. I think the introductory text by Kennedy is superior to this one.

Yasuda sought to restate the teachings of Shinran within a modern tradition that began with the work of Kiyozawa Manshi (1863–1903) and extended through the writings of Yasuda’s teachers Kaneko Daiei (1881–1976) and Soga Ryōjin (1875–1971). These men lived through the period of Japan’s rapid modernization and viewed the Shin tradition as possessing existential significance for modern men and women. For them, and Yasuda in particular, Amida did not exist in some other-worldly paradise but rather Amida and his Pure Land were to be experienced as lived realities in the present. In the writings and lectures presented here, Yasuda draws on not only classical Shin and Mahayana Buddhist sources, but also the thought of Nishida Kitarō (1870–1945), the founder of the Kyoto School of philosophy, and modern Western philosophers such as Heidegger, Nietzsche, and Buber.
