KNOTS! As Promised

Like all the books in the field guide series, this book is compact and thin making it easy to pack or carry on your person. This is what I was looking for! In a stressful situation or if depending on a novice to help you, having a pocket reference guide to some of the most useful knots is a God sent. Written for any level reader, it first makes clear the terminology that is going to be used without making it sound like a lecture. Creek never talks down to his readers, he talks to you. This helps on many levels. After this the instructions along with the clear B&W drawings makes it easy to recreate the knots featured. At the end of the book is an area for your own personal notes. In my opinion, there's only two things I think would make this book better; print it on waterproof paper (would add to cost be worth it) and a spiral spine, to open and hold the book open or flat while viewing the knot needed.
Overall, exactly what I needed in my kit.

Knots are the vehicle by which cordage becomes a tool

This is by far my favorite of Creek’s field guides so far. It gives a comprehensive list of 19 basic knots that everyone should know. The diagrams are clear and easy to read. The instructions are also on point, both of which can be a big problem in other places I’ve learned knots. You will learn the lingo that goes along with tying knots as well as the types of rope conducive to each one. I also like that it sometimes mentions where they are applicable as well as where you should not use them. Definitely looking forward to volume 2.
